Surgical procedures are performed in our state of the art, fully accredited outpatient facility.
A brow lift is a surgical procedure most commonly performed to treat conditions associated with eyebrow position and loose or wrinkled forehead skin, as well as the underlying tissue. This procedure can create a tighter, smoother appearance of the forehead while also lifting and potentially reshaping the eyebrow area.
Ear Lobe Repair
Repairing aging earlobes or body piercings takes advantage of the body’s natural tendency to heal. When the skin and scar tissue around the piercing has been removed, the two raw edges of tissue are held together and form a scar between them, healing without a hole. A small amount of tissue may be removed if there has been significant stretching. The result? Natural looking ears.
Rhinoplasty entails either removing bone or cartilage when there’s too much present or else adding bone or cartilage when there’s not enough. It is much like the work of a sculptor. The overlying skin is allowed to redrape over the newly sculpted framework, resulting in the nose’s new appearance. Typically, rhinoplasty renders excellent results with no external scarring.
We may recommend septoplasty surgery to help you breathe better. This is an outpatient surgery performed under general anesthesia, which means you are completely asleep. It’s performed this surgery at the Stony Point Surgery Center, about a block away from his office. The procedure takes about 30 to 45 minutes to complete. Dr. Shaw does not use nasal packing for any of his nasal surgeries. Instead, he uses suturing techniques inside of the nose to achieve the same goals.
Dr. Shaw uses a specialized type of implant that is made from a material very similar to our own bones known as Medpor. The advantage of this material over traditional silicone implants is that over time the body incorporates the implant and treats it like your own natural bone. This makes for a safe implant with very little chance of the implant moving over time. The implant also has a unique shape that tapers outward to cover most of the jawline. This makes for a more balanced and natural appearance and removes any evidence of edges or distinct transition areas.
With his focus on reconstructive surgery and restoring a natural appearance to cancer or trauma patients, Dr. Shaw is uniquely qualified to understand the anatomy and give your eyes the natural beauty focus they deserve.
Eyelid surgery typically takes between one to two hours to complete and can be performed in Dr. Shaw’s modern office with a minimum amount of downtime. Scarring is minimal as the skin of the eyelid heals exceptionally quickly.
Generally the result of facial trauma, broken bones in the face have a wide range of appropriate treatments. Dr. Shaw is uniquely qualified to treat these injuries as one of the few double board certified surgeons in both ENT Head and Neck Surgery and Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Skin Cancer Reconstruction
Unlike the rest of the body, the face is a focal point of attention that is not easily hidden from view. For this reason, many patients choose to have their surgical defects as a result of skin cancer removal repaired by a facial plastic surgeon.
