Botox

Simply put, think of Botox as ironing out the wrinkles in your face.

The Procedure

Botox works to smooth out wrinkles by relaxing the muscles that are the actual underlying cause of the wrinkles themselves.

Take a look at the area between your eyes in a mirror: when you frown, muscles over each brow pull in towards the nose and cause the skin to crinkle into vertical lines.

These are often referred to as “The 11’s” since it can look like the number 11 is over your nose. Botox has excellent effects in this area by relaxing the muscles that cause the 11’s, giving the eyes a happier, more approachable appearance.

The Results

Botox is also very effective when used for the wrinkles around the eyes known as “crow’s feet.” These lines are a result of smiling and squinting. When the 11’s and the crow’s feet are both treated, a nice natural elevation of the brow occurs; this is called the “Botox Browlift.”

Botox can also be used for wrinkles on the nose known as “bunny lines,” or for the horizontal wrinkles across the upper forehead. In the lower face, the corners of the mouth can be lifted with small injections.

Botox lasts, on average, about 3-4 months, though some patients notice that the effects last longer after 3 or 4 Botox treatments.

Common Questions About Botox

How Long Does it Take?
We can usually perform Botox injections in under an hour.
How Long Does it Last?
Botox typically lasts 3-4 months, and will begin to last longer after a series of treatments has been done.
Are There Any Alternatives?

Patients who do not want injections but are seeking improvement for fine lines, wrinkles, and skin tone should consider Laser Facial Resurfacing or Vivace RF Microneedling.

Is it Painful?
Most patients find Botox very tolerable. There is a small prick when the injection is made, which we minimize by icing before the procedure and/or applying numbing ointment.
What is Recovery Like? Is There Downtime or Medication?
There is no downtime or medication involved with Botox treatments. Botox, like any procedure, has a chance of causing bruising with some patients. However, we’ve found that by combining best practices for injections along with market leading facilities, we’re able to generously reduce your chances of bruising.
