KYBELLA OFF-LABEL USES
I have been seeing fantastic results with the fat destroying injection Kybella for the double chin, we are now using the product to get rid of fat in stubborn areas such as knee fat, fat around the bra, or back fat without surgery and with a minimum of downtime. Injecting these areas is known as the off-label use of Kybella. Off-label means that a particular drug has not been studied for that use, but it may be used if the physician is properly trained and feels that the treatment is safe. For example, until recently, Botox has been used off-label for lines around the eyes. Allergan, the maker of Botox and Kybella, is currently studying Kybella treatments for bra fat, and FDA approval is anticipated soon.
Kybella works by permanently destroying fat cells, which are then naturally cleared by the body. As our bodies do not generate new fat cells, the effects of this treatment are permanent. The injection sessions take about 10 minutes and are virtually pain-free. Most patients experience swelling in the treated areas for about 3 days. There are no restrictions on activity after injection. Patients need between 2-4 injection sessions spaced every 6-8 weeks.
Ideal candidates for Kybella for armpit fat, bra fat or knee fat are within 10-15 pounds of their ideal weight, are healthy and are not grossly overweight. This injectable can also be used to treat bulges under the buttocks, known as the banana roll.
