Summer Skincare

(Yes….it is important to change it up)

It’s official! Summer is here and while the first thing on all our minds is vacay, we know we have to do a little planning before spending hours upon hours in the sun. We all love that sun-kissed glow but it can really throw a wrench in our anti-aging efforts. Longer hours spent outdoors, sweat, dehydration and exposure to harmful UV rays all contribute to lines and wrinkles, sagging skin and uneven skin tone and texture.

Wintertime can dry out our skin with cold blasts, only to be hit with heat now that the summer sun is beating down on us, bringing more oils out and for some of us, causing more breakouts. Ugh!!!!

All the summer outdoor adventures we enjoy so much bring big changes for our skin. Have you ever thought that you really need to change up your daily skin care routine and then just get too busy to make it happen? We have all been there, right? No worries…we are here to help!

So, where to begin because we know you want to look your best all summer long (while still taking care of your skin).

Healthy Skin Starts with The Basics

Good skin care is essential to healthy skin in every season, but summer brings its own challenges. It does not have to be complicated, but you should at the least include what we call “getting skin ready” (GSR) with a gentle face wash, toner, exfoliator and most definitely a sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher (especially important to incorporate into your daily routine during the summer months when you are in the sun so much more). We tend to wear less makeup & go for a more “natural” glow during the summer (our ZO Skin Health products are amazing for helping and protecting while achieving this).

Remember for truly healthy skin you should:

  •  Maintain a healthy lifestyle with nutritious meals
  •  Drink plenty of water
  •  Don’t smoke
  •  Lather on the sunscreen before going outdoors and at least every few hours if you are        active
  •  Avoid the sun as much as you can especially during peak hours of 10 am-4pm
  •  No tanning beds (if you want that bronze glow all over, use self-tanners)

Why Summertime is the Perfect Time for a Facial

How do you keep up with the fluctuations caused by the seasons?  One of the best ways to care for your skin adjusting is a facial.

Facials rejuvenate the skin on your face and neck and improve the appearance and texture.  The top layer of visible skin essentially renews itself every month, and facials help reset that process.

Some of the benefits of facials include:

  • Facials increase circulation of the blood under the skin allowing the skin optimal health to facilitate the renewal skin cells
  • Facials help clean out the waste underneath the skin that can cause puffiness and fluid accumulation by manipulating the lymphatic system
  • A good facial can help smooth fine lines and promote collagen production, which is the building block of the skin (to prevent premature aging, wrinkles, and sagging)
  • Helps even skin tone and lighten dark spots. Dark spots age our skins’ appearance visibly
  • Slows down premature aging and softening lines and wrinkles
  • No downtime

PSSSST…..A gentle reminder- sunscreen is still a necessity no matter how great the facial.

But…..let’s go a step further-The HydraFacial!

What is a HydraFacial?

Don’t mistake a HydraFacial for any other facial. A HydraFacial is advanced technology combined with nourishing ingredients that restore skin health and create an instant glow in just 50-70 minutes with no down time in just 3 steps!

1st Step: Cleanse and Peel: A mild peel is applied followed with a gentle exfoliation to gently uncover a new layer of skin

2nd Step: Extract and Hydrate: Remove debris from pores with painless suction. Hydrate and nourish the skin with intense moisturizer that quenches the skin

3rd Step: Fuse and Protect: Saturate the skin’s surface with antioxidants and peptides to maximize your glow

We suggest our HydraFacial Deluxe that can be tailored to your unique skin needs. And if you want a truly great experience add on a Dermaplaning (gets rid of the peach fuzz)!

We recognize that we all have busy schedules so making time for regular treatments can present a challenge, especially during the summer months.

We offer a variety of treatments combined with skincare to fit busy summer schedules that will hopefully slow down the impact of sun exposure and the increased risk of pigmentation and dehydration!
