I see quite a few Asian patients who are interested in using Botox or Xeomin to achieve a slimmer jawline. The Asian face tends to have rounder features than Western counterparts.
TYPICAL XEOMIN TREATMENT COURSE
A series of 2-3 injections of Botox or Xeomin into the muscle along the jawline known as the masseter can cause the muscle to shrink. This results in less volume along the lower face, and a slimmer appearance.
For even more dramatic results, a filler such as Juvederm can be placed into the cheekbones to give greater accentuation to the mid face, and less to the jawline.
PREVENTING SIDE EFFECTS
When performed properly, this injection does not affect a patient’s ability to chew or smile. However, this is considered an off-label use for Botox. An experienced injector or a Botox instructor such as myself is an absolute must.
