Juvederm Volbella in Richmond VA
The New Lip Filler
Dr Travis Shaw is once again proud to be one of the first surgeons in Richmond to be selected to introduce Juvederm Volbella lip filler. This is the newest member of the Juvederm family of fillers, and is FDA approved to treat volume loss in the lips and to treat lip lines.
Volbella lip filler is unique as it has been formulated to be very soft, pliable, and give incredibly natural looking results. It plumps up thin lips, lifts out fine smokers and lipstick lines, and restores balance to the lower part of the face. In the FDA clinical trails, Volbella gave results lasting for one year. This unique formulation gives dramatically improved results from previous lip fillers, as it looks and feels completely natural soft and supple.
The material in Juvederm’s family of fillers is called hyaluronic acid. It is actually a complex sugar molecule which attracts and retains moisture. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring compound in our tissues. You can think of it as the squishy stuff between the body’s cells. Volbella lip filler takes advantage of the fluid loving properties of hyaluronic acid to give soft, supple, moist lips. Over the course of one year, your body will gradually break down the filler and take your lips back to their normal baseline. Many people ask if the lips or skin get stretched out from the filler. This is not the case, the filler is broken down gradually, giving the tissues time to return to their normal size and shape.
Dr Travis Shaw is an Allergan certified instructor for Botox and the Juevderm family of fillers including Ultra, Ultra Plus and Voluma. He uses a unique method known as the cannula technique to minimize swelling and bruising and pain during injection. This is an advanced injection technique utilized by only a select number of plastic surgeons with advanced training and extensive filler injection experience. Using this technique, only 2 small needle punctures are required, which means less pain and risk of bruising.
Dr Shaw uses a custom formulated topical numbing cream prior to the injection to maximize your comfort.
